About Us

Hello everyone, my name is Crystal and I would like to welcome you to this site. I hope that you will come back often and interact with myself and other readers. Together we can enrich each others lives while promoting awareness, sharing our successes and failures, and encouraging one another. Ok, now a little about me and how this site came to be.

I graduated from Eastern Kentucky University with an I.E.C.E. (Interdisciplinary Early Childhood Education) Bachelor of Science in Child and Family Studies with an emphasis on special needs children. For the last three years I have divided my time between providing care for adults with special needs and working as a Developmental Interventionist (think “helping children develop/learn via play”) for those babies that are at risk or showing signs of developmental delay.

It was while at EKU I met a young mother of two boys that had been diagnosed with autism. Shortly after graduation I had a nephew diagnosed with autism. Both of these families lamented about the lack of awareness, and of not knowing what they could have done to recognize their child’s condition sooner. Also, although both are web savvy, they each found it difficult to sift through all the information out there to find the “meat” of what they were looking for. Although the main purpose of this site will be to promote awareness for the autism signs and red flags to watch for as your child develops, we also want to make your life easier by providing valuable information across the spectrum.

This is why we (my spouse assists me greatly with the site mechanics) want to hear from you. Please email me at crystal@eautismsigns.com and let me know a little about you and your situation. Even though we may not be able to respond (some days we receive hundreds of emails) we do read each and every email. Also, we encourage comments. Feel free to share what you think of an article, why you agree or disagree, or what you would like to see expanded upon.

Now our comments policy is simple:

Be respectful of everyone. Do not attack people or positions, simply state your case and provide any support you may wish to include for your position and leave it be. Rude, hateful, derogatory, and comments not pertaining to the subject matter will be deleted.

Also, note our disclaimer : This site is intended for use as a supplement to your research. None of the information should be construed as advice. You should consult with your doctor or developmental specialist before starting your child on any treatment or therapy.

I sincerely hope that you will find this site useful and that you will drop me a line to let me know how things are in your life. Thanks for reading-have a wonderful day!

 Crystal
